March Exchange Market

March exchange market was hold in March of lunar month every year in Lijiang, Yunnan. It has duration of seven days. The market was a day—long festival to Qing Dynasty emperor Qianlong decade, the Black Dragon Pool in north of Lijiang city built dragon ancestral and held temple king of dragon about three or five days long. After the revolution, Lijiang commercial the king of dragon temple advised by the association for conducting the exchange department.
Yuquan forest in the north between the lawn cater to horse---based livestock, exchange market trader continue to come to difference place. Yuquan become the center market of livestock. The exchange market on March and July of Lijiang, it comes from the tea horse road and communication in the local village in the past, most of the livestock used the farm in every village of Lijiang , so the economic develop very fast.
During the March exchange market except the medicine, local produce, and general merchandise used every day. Another it can used match of dancing, singing traditional music, sport and so on. The festival atmosphere was very lively. During this day the people from difference place came to here do business , took many difference things from them hometown ,like difference medicine herb, nut, but in the past most of the horses and mules were selling or buying. Because have no enough clothes at that time.
We heard in the past the exchange market was near the Lijiang old town, that is the center of exchange, but the market became bigger and bigger and the environment was polluted, much rubbish was through in the market, so in the end the local people decided to move the market to the lashi Lake area west of Lijiang, so from that time beginning the market stay in Lashi Lake area long time. Now the local people’s life become better and better, so in the market have enough produces except medicine herb, vegetable, nut, horses and mules and so on, the market become more bigger than before, in the past in the market most of all local people, but now many people from difference place that take difference produces come to here selling, like many clothes, shoes, fruits, candy. Anything have enough here.
Sometimes we can see some tourists in the market were bought, so the market looks bustling with noise and activity. I think the way it’s very good that put some dustbin in the market. It can help the environment well. When the enemy’s increased awareness, the environment here has been better protected.
