Cangshan, overlooking Dali and the lake


Cangshan Mountain stands majestically in the west of Yunnan,forming the major part of the Sourthern Yunling Mountains. It overlooks the Erhai Lake in the east and faces the Heihui River in the west, the 19 peaks of the Cangshan Mountain, the average elevation of the peaks is above 3500 m, the peak Malong, which is the highest, is 4122 m high and snow-capped all the year round, on the top of the Cangshan, there are horse washing pond, Black Bragon Pool, between the peaks are streams rashing down eastward, forming splashing waterfalls and overlapping springs, and finally emptying into Erhai Lake. These streams constitute the famous 18 steams of Cangshan mountain. Cangshan mountain is well known for its clouds, snow forests springs, stones and flowers, jade belt clouds, husband-expecting cloud, and Cangshan Snow, which have resulted form the special geography,climate and air of the mountain and the lake, and the marble from the Cangshan mountain are all typical local attractions, Cangshan mountain is rich in a variety of precious plants like Yunnan spruce,camellia,azalea and orchid, it is a treasure house of plants and an imprint part of the tourist resources of Dali.
