Nestled in a sub-alpine valley, against the towering backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain peak,lies Wenhai Lake and neighboring Wenhai village. The village of Wenhai surround the lake, it is located 3000m above sea level, was established in this valley over 300 years ago. It is a undeveloped area, most close to snow mountain and peaceful area! You can hear nothing besides the cow, horse, pig, dog…it is one of most important grazing grassland for during the Tea Horse Road. In 2002, Wenhai had a total population of 798 people, from 217 households. The “Upper” and “Lower” villages near the lake are inhabited by the Naxi, while Yi people live in villages to the north, further up the mountain. The local Yi and Naxi people still keep their traditional custom and life, normally their speak their own language, wear the Yi and Naxi traditional clothing . Ecolodge here
